In light of the recent events happening at Occupy sites all over the world, I have been hearing more and more from young people a revolution is about to happen. I’ve heard these words spoken with emotions ranging from slight worry to downright let’s make this happen talk (including egging on the police). This is my prayer for you all.
Let us remember history. You all know what I’m talking about. You’re intelligent, aware and awake.
Let us also remember what the word revolution means. Revolutions are bloody, violent and someone else is just put in charge. Interestingly enough, I have met a few people lately from other countries who have lived through revolutions and their eyes go dark when they speak of it. Let’s not be too excited about the word revolution. As one of you even said to me, “Violence has never been the answer and never will.”
We can be excited that people are uniting, we can be excited that change is coming and that we can be a part of it, we can be excited at the chance for a better world for all of us.
I love your passion and your desire to make the world a better place. You give people hope.
